Instructions
We are beginning the second grading period of the semester. Much grace was given the last few months regarding quality of work and effort.
This is a reminder that as we discussed, this is a Career and Technology course. Part of the content set forth in the TEKs specifically addresses work ethic, career skills, and professionalism.
From week 10 and going forward, the class expectations set out at the start of the year will be strictly enforced.
Assignments have due dates. If not submitted by the due date, 10 points per class day will be taken off until submitted- until a max score of 70 is reached or the assignment closes.
One week after the due date all assignments will lock. No further submissions will be allowed. Accountability and time management are essential career skills outlined in this course.
Work quality is expected to match the directions. If the assignment is to record something, no written submissions will get credit. If an assignment is to write an essay no two line statements will be credited.
Communication will be considered. If there is a circumstance where extra time is needed or there is a technical issue, communication will determine if that extension is granted. Written documentation must exist with communication between both student and teacher and written teacher approval for late submissions.. Communication at the earliest possible time is expected. If an issue arises before an assignment is due communication must happen before that item locks. Failure to communicate BEFORE the deadline has passed will not be granted.
Accountability and participation will be part of the grades. A portion of the 9 week grade will be directly related to effort and attendance. EVERY student (virtual or in person) will be expected to log into the class Canvas course before midnight on the day class meets to be counted toward participation. Much as a worker must "clock in" for their job, students will "check in" on Canvas so that documentation of their participation is created.
Going into the second grading period we will be focusing on specific duties and careers within the Public Service system. Some assignments will require students to utilize time outside of the scheduled class period to complete specific time-sensitive components. Some assignments will involve LIVE emergency response communication. Unknown outcomes are a possibility with some content (radio traffic, live feeds).
If there is any concern regarding the content, expectations, or grading policy please contact me directly and we can discuss alternatives and accommodations needed.
